Yacht Fishing Versus Party Boat Fishing
March 2, 2009 – 5:39 pm AdonisI have done both yacht charter fishing and party boat fishing. I am certainly not downplaying the enjoyment of going fishing on a large “party boat” to do deep sea fishing. However, There were many significant differences between the two.
More Room
When you are on a party boat, you might be sharing a fairly small room with about fifty people. You have large bench seats that people are sharing throughout the day. No matter if the person is sick to their stomach, which seems to be a frequent thing on party boats, or the guy is trying to lie down and take up most of it, you have to sit there and endure it. On yachts, you have the option to spread out and relax a little bit more on the way out to your fishing destination as well as on the way back.
Less Noise
I remember on the party boat I would try to get some sleep on the way out. We had woke up early that morning and I wanted enough energy to bring in some big fish. The problem was that there were numerous teenagers on the boat who were being noisy. Of course, there was nothing I could do to fix the situation as they should not be required to stay completely quiet. Fortunately, on the yacht charter, I was able to get a significant amount of sleep on the way out even though the water was not the smoothest.
Shorter Lines
On a party boat there seems to be lines for everything. When you have to use the restroom, you are required to stand in a line, mind you, falling all over the place in the meantime. When you want to grab something to eat, yet again, there is another line. It is tough going because there are so many people and usually not that large of accommodations on these types of things. On the yacht it seemed much more private with cleaner restrooms and the food was readily available. It was truly a luxurious fishing trip.
