Buying Your First Yacht

Buying your first yacht can be a great experience with a little bit of research and time spent evaluating what you want and how to go about getting it. There are so many things you can do in a yacht. Relaxing at night, fishing during the day, enjoying life away from a busy schedule are all the things that a yacht can bring to someone’s life.

There are numerous different types of yachts you can purchase. Depending on what your plans are may determine what size and features you want to have included on it. For example, if you intend on fishing, a depth/fish finder is imperative. As well, you will want a nice deck area to reel in the big ones. However, if this is not your focus, you can purchase a yacht without those features and perhaps replacing a deck with a hot tub. It is all about determining what you want to use it for.

If there is one thing that I would encourage you to do, it is that you should always get an inspection. Yachts are typically large, there can be major problems hidden throughout. A thorough inspection will give you a better idea of what kind of condition the yacht is in before you commit to purchasing it. If you feel as though the inspection revealed many problems, I would avoid purchasing it because it is likely that there could be others that were overlooked by the inspector. Clearly, the seller is not willing to reveal these problems to you.
